"Forumm's bespoke workshops, tailored to our Cambridge University team's needs, not only enhanced our skills in content planning, video creation, and social media, but also fostered excitement and community within the team."

Levelling up social media skills across the university

We were pleased as punch when Cambridge gave us the chance to roll up our sleeves and dive into some serious (but fun) social media training. Our goal was simple: empower the professional staff to get creative with their digital storytelling while keeping things light and engaging. In today’s fast-paced digital world, social media training for universities isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s essential.

Over the course of two lively days, we delivered four half-day workshops tailored specifically for university professionals. Here’s a quick snapshot of what we covered:

  • Copywriting for Social Media – Basics:
We started by laying down the fundamentals. Clear, compelling messaging is the backbone of any great social media presence. By focusing on the basics, we helped participants craft messages that truly connect with their audience.

  • Copywriting for Social Media – Tone of Voice:
This session was all about authenticity. We explored how to develop and refine a consistent, genuine tone that reflected the unique character of Cambridge. It’s about finding that sweet spot where professionalism meets personality.

  • Video for Social Media & How to Plan Content:
With video content taking centre stage in today’s digital arena, this workshop delved into strategies for incorporating video into your content mix. We shared tips on planning and executing video content that not only informs – importantly – also entertains.

  • Video Creation (with practical tasks):
Theory meets practice here. Participants got hands-on experience creating their own videos, transforming ideas into dynamic visuals that capture the essence of their message.

Our approach to social media consulting for universities is all about blending practical skills with a spark of creativity. We understand the unique challenges you face – juggling multiple platforms, engaging diverse audiences, and standing out in a crowded digital space. Our workshops are designed to equip you with the tools to manage your digital presence effectively, ensuring every post is not just seen, but felt.

Want to see what the Cambridge team came up with? Here’s some of our faves:

One of the highlights from our time with the Cambridge team was the unexpected comedic duo of Ibrahim and SJ. Their playfulness brought their own personalities into the mix, proving that even in structured training, a bit of humour can work wonders. Their lively energy reminded us that effective social media isn’t about rigid rules – it’s about connecting authentically with your audience.

Another standout moment was our collaboration with Amy, who was celebrating her first year at Cambridge. With our guidance, Amy created a unique tour of her favourite campus spots, offering Dan and Hilary an insider’s glimpse into what makes her university special. This personal touch showcased the real-world impact of tailored social media training for universities—transforming everyday milestones into engaging stories.

Our work with Cambridge University reaffirms that with the right approach, every university can elevate its digital presence. Our social media workshops and consulting services are designed to help you move beyond generic advice, crafting bespoke strategies that boost engagement, enhance brand awareness, and build a vibrant, connected community.
